Staff Privileges

The process for helpers to rise through the ranks and become respected Staff is often vague and confusing to newcomers, so we have written this guide to educate new helpers.

Trial Roles:

After having joined the staff through the standard application process, you will be assigned the role of helper.

Helpers are considered new staff who only do jobs assigned to them through higher ranking staff

Helpers are allowed:

  • basic editing privileges like the ability to create and delete pages
  • the ability to edit pre-existing pages when asked to.

Helpers will be given easy and simple jobs that will help educate them on basic Wikidot editing.

The 'Helper' role is mostly to test a new staff member's activity.

Junior Staff:

After 2-3 weeks of work, helpers may advance to junior staff. If they are inactive in this 2-3 weeks of work, their staff membership is terminated, and if they do the bare minimum, they'll stay as a helper.

Junior staff is the time in your service when you will be able to choose your next role. During this time, junior staff can do things such as writing critique, editing, and technical service.

Juniors are allowed:

  • basic editing privileges like the ability to create and delete pages
  • the ability to edit pre-existing pages

If a junior has worked with staff for 3-4 weeks of work, and has been shown to be a good crit or writer, they will be moved to the writing, critique, or lore management role.

If a junior has worked with staff for 3-4 weeks of work, and has been shown to have greater knowledge of Wikidot systems, they will be moved to a technical team role.

Operational Roles:

If you have been moved to a role that you feel is not what you want to do, you can ask to be relocated to a new one.

The writing team is in control of critique and editing pages. They also monitor spam.

The lore management monitors pages for potential discrepancies in the lore and reports them to the critique staff

The critique role is in control of criticism and deciding which pages stay and which get deleted.

The technical team is in charge of monitoring the site, and adding things to it.

The Staff Management Team are the people that will assist Readers and Authors with issues they have came across in the Wikidot.

These roles are all considered “respected staff roles” meaning that they have all privileges in terms of editing.
If a respected staff member has proven to be trustworthy and active, they will be promoted to moderator role. You cannot request moderator as a role, it is assigned. Moderators control the site's contributions and can remove or add new members. They also man the application process and are expected to help add staff members to the team.

Captains:

The Role of Captain, will usually go to a Staff Member, that has shown to be very helpful in their "Respected Staff Role", and is a very good leader. The Captain Roles, will go to a person with their "Respected Staff Role", and if the member has progressed to Moderator. These Roles can only be held by 1-2 staff members for each Captain Role at a time. (Captain roles only assigned once a member has reached moderator status)

Admin:

If a moderator has shown exceeding prowess in every way of moderation, and is deemed the most trustworthy, and has been on the team for at least half a year or more, they can be considered for the admin process by the current admins themselves.

Admins are the leaders of the site. They command the most respect and are the highest ranking authorities in the wiki. The Admins will keep their "Respected Staff Roles", and if they have it, keep their Captain Role as well.
